Champion Spotlight - Storm (Pyramid X)

About Storm (Pyramid X)
This is not the Storm you know. She has been indoctrinated into Pyramid X by her God Apocalypse. Storm is able to channel her weather-bending abilities through her ornate wand Heset’s Ruin, to raze entire cities and subjugate those who do not submit to En Sabah Nur.
Storm (Pyramid X)'s Mechanics:
The two most important elements of Storm (Pyramid X)’s kit are Prowess and Tempests. Tempests are selected in a pre-fight screen and provide her with Immunities, Passive abilities, and Special Attack bonuses. Prowess effects empower the abilities provided by Tempests. When playing as Storm (Pyramid X), players should focus on building as many Prowess effects as possible before unleashing devastating Special Attacks.

Character Class: Mutant
Basic Abilities: Ice Tempest, Lightning Tempest, Prowess
STRENGTHS
- Glancing
- While Storm’s Ice Tempest is active, she has one of strongest Glancing abilities in the game, with a 60% chance to cause all incoming Basic Attacks to glance.
- Glancing Hit’s cannot be Critical, have 50% reduced damage, and reduce the Opponents offensive Ability Accuracy by -100%
- Stun
- While Storm’s Lightning Tempest is active, she has access to a small chance to Stun the Opponent on Hit. This Stun provides windows for Storm to either reset her combo to gain more power, or to charge her Heavy Attack for a powerful Prowess effect.
- If Fighting an opponent who purifies Stun Debuffs, Storm will apply a Passive Stun instead.
- Energy Damage
- All of Storm’s attacks are Energy Damage. If fighting Opponents with lots of Physical Resistance, Storm will cut through them quickly.
- Power Lock and Power Drain
- If Storm is affected by Power Lock or Power Drain, her Tempests are removed and she can no longer gain Prowess. When fighting against Storm as a Defender, removing her Tempests are the key to defeating her.
- Nullify
- Storm gains Prowess Buffs whenever either Champion gains a bar of Power. If She has 6 Prowess active when launching a Special Attack, she becomes Unblockable. While Nullify won’t remove the Tempests, they will at least slow her down and prevent her going Unblockable.
- Low Health
- Storm has a lower health pool than most Champions to compensate for her powerful Glancing mechanic. If her Tempests are removed, she should go down very quickly.
Abilities:
The following Stats and Abilities are based on a Rank 5, Level 65, 5-Star Champion
Passive:
- Storm’s basic attacks deal Energy Damage instead of Physical.
- Storm has 1400 Energy Resistance.
- If the Opponent Purifies a Stun Debuff it is replaced with a Passive Stun lasting 2 seconds.
- By default, Ice Tempest is selected. If selecting a different Tempest in the Pre-Fight Screen, it becomes the new default. Default Tempests can be switched once per Fight.
- When Power Locked or Power Drained, Tempests are removed for 8 seconds.
- Activation of Tempests is unaffected by Ability Accuracy.
- Ice Tempest: Gain Immunity to Coldsnap and Frostbite, and incoming Basic Attacks have a 60% chance to Glance. Glancing Hits cannot be Critical, deal 50% reduced damage, and suffer -100% Offensive Ability Accuracy.
- Lightning Tempest: Decrease the potency of incoming Shock effects by 100% and each active Prowess adds 2% chance to Stun the Opponent on Hit for 0.9 second(s). Max 16% chance.
- When Knocked Down, if not already active, Storm activates her Alternate Tempest for 12 seconds. Duration is paused during Heavy Attacks and Special Attacks.
- Each Tempest generates 1 Prowess, increasing the next Special Attacks damage by 40%. The first 3 Prowess Buffs last indefinitely. Additional Prowess Buffs last 10 seconds. Max 12.
- If Storm has 6 Prowess effects active during a Special Attack, gain a Passive Unblockable for 1.8 second(s).
Heavy Attacks:
- Charging a Heavy Attack creates a dormant Prowess which charges from 0 to 100%.
- Launching a Special Attack while charging a Heavy Attack converts this dormant Prowess into a Passive Prowess increasing the Special Attacks damage by up to 100% based on how long the Heavy Attack was charged.
SPECIAL ATTACKS
Special Attack 1 - CLOUDY WITH A CHANCE OF PAIN: Storm calls forth a hailstorm of ice directed entirely on her unfortunate Opponent.
|
Special Attack 2 - WHEN TOADS MEET LIGHTNING: Storm channels a conduit of electrical force before discharging a rapid burst of lightning obliterating everything in its path.
|
Special Attack 3 - ACCELERATED CLIMATE CHANGE: Storm demonstrates her absolute control over the elements by conjuring a devastating localized storm. Witness the true power of an Omega level mutant.
|
Signature Ability: Wrath of Ororo Munroe

Stupefy:
- Stupefy will extend her on Hit stuns provided by Lightning Tempest, giving her more time to charge her Heavy Attack Prowess.
Parry:
- Parry will be an essential tool to mitigate block damage and provide openings for Storm (Pyramid X)’s Heavy Attack Prowess.

So you'll see yellow numbers, but only for half the damage you'd usually expect.
- Are the prowess buffs consumed after each special or are they permanent?
- Do power burn & power steal effects count as power drain?
- How does the signature ability scale?
- Does knocking her down change the Tempest (getting rid of the current one), or just give her an extra one?
Can I ask what constitutes 'Purify'?
Mole Man has a Purify call-out, as do King Groot, Elsa Bloodstone, and Skill Sentinel; so presumably they'd take the Energy damage.
Agent Venom and The Collector have Tenacity; which is a similar effect with a different call-out: do they suffer burst damage if they shrug off this debuff?
Kingpin and Crossbones also have unique means of converting debuffs into something else - does that count as a 'Purify'?
I did post this question in Havok's thread way back when; and with another champion who punishes 'Purify' (as does OML), it would be nice to know what it actually means.
Thanks.

.....
So, on a completely unrelated note, any chance of an Agent Venom rework any time soon?
😉
I can consistently throw 140k SP3’s on my 5/65
She can be coldsnap or shock immune
Always lands stuns and gets around astral evade and can stun annihilus
She can counter evade
Has energy damage so can counter korg and Morningstar
Has energy Reid he nice to take reduced damage from stuff like Magik’s limbo and incinerate debuffs
Her healthpool isn’t great but the glancing can save you occasionally
And if you’re getting power locked/drained by mystic champs then you’re doing some thing wrong
And all mutant champs have class disadvantage against tech apart from Magneto. All classes have class disadvantage against one class
Honestly some people
And again her special-2 and special-3 doesnot always deal critics ,have you played with her? You play her without getting hit by one attack also and increasing your prowess very difficulty ,but all your struggle goes in vain sometimes ,because her special-2,3 does not deal critic damage .it will be moderate
By seeing from paper ,she has glancing ,she has lightgning ,she is cold ,lightning immune ......blaa blaaa
But when you play her ,you will know the struggle of her .there are cases
Case-1: if you want to deal more damage ,you will activate lightning temptest mode .then there is no protection for your silly low health. Okk that's not a problem .we will struggle and gain prowess without getting hit by opponents. You use special-2 ,does it deal critic damage Everytime? She gets damage only from specials .even that are not confirmed it's like a 50-50 chance .I have observed .that chance to get critic damage is between 50-75 percent .if that damage doesnot deal critic damage. All your struggle to gain prowess ,saving you from not get hit got wasted .
Case-2: Okk then let's discuss what happens if you use cold temptest to fight against evade ,some specific nodes .........then where does the damage come from .you have to spam special-1 to to get that evade counter. If you use that special-2 it is in cold temptest ,no damage comes from .even ,of you use special-3 and get prowess fast and use special-2 . Do you get 90% chance to get crit damage ? She has 50-75% chance to get crit damage .
You are mentoning about the damage mann.but if you have played with her ,you would know .her specials does not always deal critic damage .you will get sucked if you don't get crit damage
You are mentoning about the glancing is useful by using cold tempest to benefit from low helath. If you want to activate glancing then you have to activate cold temptest .then your damage sucks .even if you build special-2,3 ........with 6,7,8 prowess there is no specific perfect chance that she will get critic damage .
You are talking about counter to kingpin ,agent venom ,Korg, annihilis .this is nice .but will you just design a character to get counter to 3-4 champions who are not even demigod tiers champions .you have to just think about that.
All your mentioned features will not be used at a time ,if you use any one of them she literally sucks .you have to use both temptest to get some average benefit from her and even if you activate both temptest with struggle all your mentioned damage is not at all gauranteed. It depends on your luck whether she deals critic damage or not .
You are using her at the higher level 5/65 ,so even if you got hit by basic attacks ,you are surviving .use her at rank-2,3 then you will how struggling to save her if you have done even one mistake .
She is useful at masochism nodes and at 5.6.1 and 5.6.2. .there are other champions also who could do that .
I mean ,do you design a champion to get counter to 3-4 champions and 1-2 node effects and you are highlighting them like she is useful against half of the champions in tier list and she is like a god tier .
Don't talk about that damage Mann ,it is good we know she can get that .but it is not Everytime we get a crit damage .using only special attacks ,those which are also not guaranteed to get crit damage is not good bro.
And a gauranteed 100% critic damage special-2 .
He does not have immunities .
But he has gauranteed damage output than storm. He gets guranteed damage from basic ,heavy and specials .
Storm pyramid -x has no damage from basic ,heavy ,gets damage only from special attacks, in which critc damage is not guaranteed.
because of champion tag of old champion ,Underrated Symbiote Spiderman is some where very below in useful tier and she is in high Demi God tier because of new champion tag.
We will see as time progress ,where will be her position
Her SP2 isn’t the special you should use because of her awful crit rate. You use the SP3. I don’t know if you missed this but in my original comment but my 5/65 throws 140k SP3’s. That’s equal or better than Havok. Moderate damage my a*s
Increasing prowess isn’t difficult, you or your opponent just need to get a bar of power. How easy do you want it to be, can’t get much simpler than that
And I’m sorry “Bla bla blaaa”. Yeah she has no utility if you f***ing ignore it *slow clap*
And again. I use her. All the time. And if you’re playing her right, then you have both tempest active 90% of the time. So you have some protection against low health, although the health is abysmal, she’s flimsy, I won’t argue that. But if you’re getting hit in Act 6 for example, most champs are going down in one combo anyway and you’re doing something wrong if you’re getting hit.
Again, SP3 for damage, not SP2 because it doesn’t crit. Do you even play her, because your knowledge on this champion is shocking compared to your claims
Then you go on a tirade about damage again when you clearly don’t know how to use her. I know that because you say that if you activate Ice tempest then her damage sucks. The tempest you pick at the start of the fight does not affect your damage. The damage comes from the prowess, which she gains with both.
And I think saying someone counters Korg and annihilus is important considering they are some of the most damn prevalent characters in the game and a large proportion of the player base struggle with them. Did I mention she counters masochism through this ability too? You know, the node in the quest that usually walls people out of uncollected.
And yeah, you can use your utility without her damage sucking, you just clearly have little to no experience with the champion.
What’s this about losing prowess if you screw up? Because she isn’t going to lose prowess by getting hit. I can only assume you mean you lose her tempests by getting power drained, which comes off of Magik’s SP2. And if you’re getting hit by Magik’s SP2 you have much larger problems than criticising a champion you don’t know how to use. And I’ve covered damage extensively, you don’t know how to use her.
Oh and now it seems you caught onto the fact I’m using a 5/65, even though you’ve previously said “if you use her you will know the pain”. What are you on about at this point.
And do you not think that if I have her at 5/65 and you have her R2 or 3, then I’m probably doing higher end content with her where the attack values are higher so it ends up equivalent? Also, if you’re getting hit by attacks, that’s a you problem, not the champion.
Again you criticise me for pointing out that she counters shrug off abilities. I don’t know where you are in terms of progression, but let me tell you as someone with 100% Act 6 and all variants, it’s incredibly useful. We are literally just seeing a ‘tenacity’ node appear, which gives any champion a chance to shrug off. And it’s not about how many matchups a champ counters, it’s about what matchups they actually counter. Personally I would rather a champion countered Annihilus rather than Falcon, but hey, maybe that’s just me.
And dear god, don’t criticise the damage when you don’t know to use her, it’s not a good look. We know her crit rate sucks. That’s why we use the mega SP3 which doesn’t rely on crit damage.
And are you really comparing her to Sym Spidey? Jesus f***ing Christ. Sym Spidey has guaranteed damage on the SP2. She has much higher guaranteed damage out out on the SP3
Sym Spidey has little utility. He can armour break and that’s basically it. That is the only useful piece of utility he has
Storm, as I’ve said, can prevent shrug off, has two immunities, energy damage, energy resistance, evade counter on SP1(which she does sacrifice some damage for I’ll give you that), a passive slow on her SP1 for its duration, she places shocks on the SP2, providing a counter for thunderstruck.
You’re making a fool of yourself. Come back after doing some god damn research.
