Why does sabertooth’s synergy require dying?

So someone said that you don’t need to die to get furies with synergy. Is this true and if not, why do you need to die?

The youtubers were killing him after banking some furies and doing an sp3 so that they can get to an insane amount of furies. You don't need to die.

If you want to reach a decent amount of furies early on, you have to die a few times to ramp up the furies. You can play without dying but you’d realistically only be able to reach about 30 furies before the end of the quest. The only place you can play without reviving is in incursions

Once you reach the natural 15 furies cap, you can only add two more per fights if you end it with a sp3 while you have a fury active.
The fights can end when you defeat the opponent or when you die. Dying allows you to bank an extra two furies as many times as you’re willing to use a revive.
