If Gifting doesn't come back this could stay

Pretty sure this has been the second of its kind ever, the last one being last year. So I'd guess that it will be an annual thing.

If? Gifting event is a huge money maker. It will return
There was HUGE controversy from the last gifting event and arguably caused more of a headache than it was worth including threat of a boycott.

UMCOC Podcast did a great discussion of it last week and they brought up the suggestion that they redo the event but remove the Ranked rewards which caused it to be such an overhyped competition that caused such cheating and stress. If they just had milestone rewards and so people would just do as much as they were prepared to invest in with no actual competition it should still be a money maker without the incentive to cheat.

But the ranked rewards were what make it such a big money maker. If they make it so its only milestones, then it would add a ton of t5cc to top alliances and make it even harder for other allys. If they don't want to introduce so many rewards, then the rewards wouldn't be good and therefore, they would make less money.

I think another possible solution is to remove the points someone has contributed if they leave

imagine cheating to get resources in an online game. smh at these blubbery whales
Generally, whales aren't cheating. They can afford to fund their own participation. The people who are a real problem are the ones dishonest enough to commit all kinds of Fraud. Those are the ones who really ruin it for everyone else.

Not necessarily - you can still have amazing rewards at high level milestones that whales will spend to achieve. By removing the ranked rewards you remove the competition side of things, which is where the controversy happened, one team felt they "should have won" because the team that actually won was claimed to have cheated; several other teams (especially those who just missed out on particular rank levels) were also aggrieved and said the alleged cheaters should be banned and removed from the rankings so that everyone else moved up the ranks to potentially get more rewards.

If it's just milestones, you work as hard as you want and what everyone else does has no effect.

See, the issue is milestones have a set value. Ranking points can increase infinitely, increasing the amount of money spent infinitely

This calendar is honestly one of the best things to happen to this game and this is its second debut so I’m sure it will come back again next year

It causes people to login everyday for over 3 months. That is exactly what Kabam wants. I'm almost surprised that their is only 1 per year.
