I was opening a basic 5* hero crystal and I told my brother as a joke I'm going to get guardian since I got red Guardian from a basic earlier and because he's hunting for him. I also got professer x and he's also hunting for him. So I'm using my generic on him too.

Congratulations! Just know you need to get his Signature Level qs close to Max if not Maxed to take full advantage of his abilities!

A good rule to live by is don’t awaken a champ until AFTER you get the ranked up to a useable rank. Never know, you may open a grandmaster shard crystal from calendar and dupe him. I did it with void. I pulled him, awakend him the same day then started ranking him up and by the time I was ready to take him to 3/45 I duped him and wasted my gem and still needed him to 4/55 to be useable. Just a little word of advice from someone that messed up on thier AG decision
