Can’t use rank up gem on Ultron Classic?

Anyone know why you can’t use a 2015-2017 rank up gem on Ultron Classic? I have two in my inventory but it’s not appearing as an option on his rank up menu (it does appear for other champions). He was released in 2016. Is this a bug or am I missing something?

    I guess I understand that logic. Still, I think Kabam could give him a release year without much trouble.
