    Was thinking the exact same thing, it forces you to improve/up your skill. It's not some pay to win wall unless kabam add some real bs nodes to the fight.

    They're holding it in reserve for when they introduce this guy:

    Since The Blob's main ability is to become Immovable, I'd expect him to have his own personal Root mechanic, which (as some have said) can actually be helpful in some circumstances.
