Brian Grant just insinuated he may quit the game over the gifting event.....

They are a company with making money as a target...
I seriously dont understand the point of this post or his video tbh... He constantly is aware that there is a gap between f2p and players who spend...the naive part is thinking that in 6 years that gap would remain the same...
Its quite obvious if he didnt spend for the 6 years he played.. people who did spend would make the gap larger and larger...

What BG is saying, is said every year. Gifting always sets the precedent for the new year. It’s always too much to attract the spending.
Frankly, the game to me is low stakes. While I’m TB and all that, I don’t really play at a high level. Because of what I do, I can afford to spend for progression if I like. I don’t always. But sometimes!
I appreciate what BG does. I’m a gamer at heart, but chose to become a part of something else. The time I invested in training to be this, he invested in learning YouTube and developing his account and his audience. I like to watch the outcome of his choices, a part of me wishes I could just game (not much of me though). It’s not low stakes for him, and I kind of envy the ability to value something small like that. I work in a big stakes world.
I guess, it’s a little offensive that I could buy my way right past him. I have an awakened 6* surfer. I have the resources to buy $30000 in GGC, if I wanted. I could rank 4 a couple champs with that, get 15 k prestige, join NYC. Sure, whatever. But it still wouldn’t mean anything to me. Just feels weird.
The guy repeatedly passes up on end game materials during the major unit events and puts off doing content hampering his own progression, he doesn’t have much of a leg to stand on. The guy has lost the plot and can’t look at it objectively anymore.
He grinded 50k+ units (this is already insane for a course of a year for most players), and spent most of it because Kabam has made less content, and more 18k unit spending deals for the competitive players to get the resources for pieces of the next step up (getting the first 6* r4 champion).
Most players didn't even have a 6* r4 before the cyberweekend deals.
There is no way that he knew top alliances will now go from having 0-1 r4s, to suddenly 3 to 4+r4s.
I'm really hoping for new amazing content 2022. Nothing against spenders/whales: spend away.
I just think the gifting rewards this time around was a bit more extreme compared to previous years(watch Brian's vid) with how stingy Kabam has been with r4 resources.
I think he's gone off the deep end with all this.
To qualify my position I'm not super comfortable with folks dropping the equivalent of a family car to chase r4s, but if that's what they want to do it's their prerogative.
I don't believe it's as game breaking as BG is making out. @thepiggy makes some excellent points about its impact, you will have 30 accounts with the chance to have 4+ r4s if they also end up getting top alliance rank rewards and maybe 100-150 accounts who will have a chance at over 3.
That may have an impact on the AQ prestige race but generally it's going to be the same folks who are already miles ahead.
I don't see the rank rewards having any impact on AW, as going off past years the leaderboard has generally been filled with accounts that are not pushing for masters in AW (for myriad reasons) The crystals might but that will mainly be down to some chasing their first R4 getting stupidly lucky
Solo competitive mode doesn't exist yet and unless BG has some inside track on it all we don't know how it's going to play out. It could be gated at 5* for all I know (would be the most profitable option). Its also not a given that it's going to appeal to the same whales chasing rank rewards in gifting.
Overall, unless you are in the prestige chase for AQ or aiming to be on the top 100 leaderboard its not going to change much of anything.
That being said, hopefully Act 7 completion/exploration and some future Everest content (when Covid stops buggering up schedules) gives people the chance to get an R4 or 2 by just playing early next year. I'd prefer to grind for it personally and BG has expressed similar sentiments about not enjoying Diablo when being overpowered or finding MCOC content not challenging.
As for all of this arguing and such I think at the end of the day it just doesn't matter. Kabam is dumb with a lot of things, but they definitely know how to control the "economy" of the game. If they didn't, this mobile game would be long dead instead of 7 years strong after all.
In 3 months time or so, t5cc will become very common. R4 resources will start to become increasingly more available. Most likely at a staggering rate compared to know due to the gifting event rewards. It will all even out in a reasonable amount of time. Kabam is good at this type of stuff guys. I honestly wouldn't worry about this event right know, because at the end of the day it evens out as Kabam has intended it to.
Kabam didn't do this on a whim, they have a plan. And I for one have faith that Kabam has the common sense to not trash their game.
Those parts of the video where he’s like look at all this t5c in act 6 and war rewards, they’re worth far less than what he is saying they are. So no I don’t find the video to accurately portray the evolution of end game rank up material.
IIRC last year he chose to forgo the 6* rank up bundle because he was still content with 5* yet was allegedly playing catch up for prestige etc. I respect that he plays the long game but I don’t think that he plays the long game particularly well, he’s just got a 4 year head start on half the player base, is good at the game and sinks 8 hours a day into arena.
There also has to be a motive to buy these GGC and the only real motive to do that for someone such as myself who spends little money across the year - £50 max - and has 22 R3 is to make the next power level a possibility from the rewards or what on earth am I going to spend my units on it for?
The 4th July, BF and Gifting are designed so that unless you’re grinding an obscene amount of arena you can’t naturally max out everything for free so that P2P players do gain a net profit.
Honestly most of this comes across as him being but sad that the penny’s finally dropped. I’m guessing he’s been given an ultimatum in his ally and told he’s gotta catch up or step aside. Despite what @danielmath says about his rep etc. which believe me, I’m not disputing, I think the scales might start to tip the other way for the next few months until the low spenders/F2P can have a team of R4 as well.
