I mean, there are a lot of hard working people out there scrambling to make ends meet, but almost all of those people have at least heard of people who make enough money to have a discretionary budget on the order of thousands of dollars a year. Most of these people are not what I would call rich.
The ultra whales, those spending tens of thousands of dollars a year, yeah they are probably (hopefully) well off. But someone spending a few grand a year on their hobby(ies) isn't necessarily rich. Discretionary spending is less about how much you make (beyond a certain point) and more about how much you spend. Three kids, two dogs, and a mortgage is going to set you back tens of thousands of dollars more than someone with no college loans or car payments.
It takes a certain amount of life experience to understand the complexities of individual financial positions. You can't look at what someone spends on something and automatically judge their income or how wealthy they are. Nor can you really judge their decision making either, in isolation. What I choose to spend on this game or anything else will be different than what other people choose to spend, and while people can make dumb mistakes in their spending choices, that's for them to figure out, not for others to figure out for them.
I ran out of revives and units earlier this year while nearly through the Grandmaster fight on my first account. Considered spending at that point, but decided against it. Once the dam breaks, it's difficult to plug.
Saved up revives and units and tried again a couple months later. Glad I waited.
Not sure whether thats a good or bad thing, I'll let you know next monday morning.
