Why we are losing our rating?

If I'm not mistaken, you are not supposed to lose your rating points during the war between seasons.
In our alliance it's not obligatiry to participate in those wars, it's only played by those who need training additional loyalty.
However, now we have lost two wars and already moved to the category below.
Am I missing something?

We always played in 5th category and have moved to 6th just before the season ended
