This time around i actually like this meta. Creating more proper strategy is key to win now. Tho my deck is average for this meta but i am enjoying far as i have to think out of box now. Imagine trapping your oppenent against Dragon man without nullifier. I literally hoped that if i mess up , my opponent will mess up more due to defender placement 😂😂😂😂 not Everytime you can't kill defender in 20 sec. Sometimes you have to take L deliberately In one of the rounds and trap the opponent. If that damage is inevitable for you so with opponent, use it your advantage.
So I think its fair to say that the response to this weeks battlegrounds meta is mixed at best. but honestly, I kinda like it. It's not super restrictive and there are plenty of good attackers available.
In the past we've had weeks where the nodes don't really matter and its just a nuke contest. Thats not good.
But for this week where yes, it is restrictive, there are also plenty of counters. One of the big things about this gamemode is that you are supposed to reshuffle & constantly edit your deck to match the new metas. Without that core idea, everyone would just use the same / very similar decks and never make changes. Whats the point in that? Part of the fun (for me at least) is figuring out who does and doesn't work each week.
Just to put it out there, this isn't coming from someone with a massive whale account. I have 8 r3 champs & 16 r2, far from the strongest account and my deck is mostly 5*.
You can try to reason with them all u want but they will only come up with 2 counters…it’s too restrictive and I don’t wanna rank up a champ for this meta who would be useless elsewhere but other than og Thor(who needs a lot of investment) none of the top options are champs that u wouldn’t wanna invest in
And we can't reason with you as you just say "get good" or "build your roster" ...
2 sides to each coin lad 😉
So building ur roster only means to rankup hercs and torches and use them everywhere…gotcha
Herc and Torch are terrible for this meta 🤣
Herc is still a good option to win a fight, when you give your opponent a death match, and torch is a great defender, as you most likely want to bring relatively many mystics as potential attackers
Again, this is a competitive mode. If you want to compete, you pretty much have to go all in.
If you want to "live your life" or play a "fun" mode, go do arenas, EQ, SQ, Story and incursions.
You just described BGs in a nutshell.
Fixed it for you.
I really dont know why im explaining "Competitiveness", its such a simple concept. Victory Track isnt supposed to be a cake walk, it has some of the best rewards in the game, there are no freebies, you earn your rewards by being smart at the game. Being smart means reinforcing your roster. They told us the nodes a month ago, you had time to get some decent counters, you CHOSE not to.
If you dont meet the requirements to earn the rop rewards, you dont get the top rewards, simple.
So lemme get this straight…u ranked up champs without looking at bg nodes which were announced a few weeks back and now complain that ur new champs aren’t good for the node??
Dont know why you are getting disagrees. You're right. If he actually cared about battlegrounds that much he would have looked at the nodes beforehand and ranked accordingly

You just described gladiator circuit in a nutshell.
Not sure where people got the idea that VT was just rainbows and unicorns and basically arena 2.0 for casuals. It's still a competitive game mode at its core
How competitive each person chooses to be in that mode is a choice. You can either choose to compete every season and work towards roster growth to manage that, you can choose to only push when the nodes match your current roster, or you can choose to not compete at all and just get fight completion milestones or abstain completely
Worst season so far, I actually had fun last season, this is just terrible. I understand the counters but do you really think that all the people have the counters? Even if you have a few there’s no guarantee to get them on the choosing phase!
Just got back from vacay and did my first match, won 2-0. Aarkus defeated Warlock and SW (barely) defeated Mephisto, and the other player could not kill Sassy with Kingpin or Nimrod with Venom.

Knowledge is important nimrod cannot be armor broken so need to bring a mystic or power burn immune. People need to bring neutralize champs for some fights.
The biggest issue I have with your argument is it isn't a week long thing. Victory track has these nodes ALL season.
In my honest opinion, Victory track should be a fun gamemode and the competitiveness of it should be the gladiator circuit. This current meta makes it not fun unless you have a very diverse roster of champions ranked. Keep in mind that champions that place armor breaks on hits, like medusa, have to take 1 hit of power burn damage to remove the armor up. Champions with neutralize have to have 100% uptime on that neutralize since chitin charges do not reset to 0 due to neutralize. Those with fate seal suffer the same as those with neutralize.
The chitin charge node is the real issue this meta, there is 0 way to counter it with anyone. A recommendation I saw and really liked was to have chitin charges be reset to 0 on a heavy attack. This'll make it more possible for any champion to be useful, while also increasing the value of defenders who naturally have armor ups.
There actually is a way to counter it with many champs how about start with ability reduction. Then the champs that avoid power burn or nullify the armors like a supreme doom almost any mystic champ. You’re not even in gladiator and already complaining about one of the easiest nodes. Literally just have to bring a counter for one thing imagine watching you try to fight eternity of pain or fights with multiple nodes attached. Sad
Who decided that this was going to be fun for BG ?
I wanted BattleGrounds to come back so I could have some fun with all my new rank ups I've been working during this holiday break. It was a surprise to find myself with the worst BG season ever... Nodes are meant to make you find new ways to overcome them and win... BUT these nodes are meant to focus more on specific rosters than adapting your play style around them. You can build most of your decks to counter some of these nodes but then find yourself that the 7x champions you choose(Randomly) aren't the best and then seeing your opponent get the perfect 7x champs. I was so excited for this BG season but I think I will save my elder marks and skip this season...
Good luck to all of those that wanted to just have some fun on BattleGrounds !

Completely agree with this, VT should be fun. GC should be harder as that's where the competition really starts. I wouldn't even say VT is competitive, not when you consider there is no end of season rewards for VT
But it is easy…you haven’t even reached gladiator it’s obviously harder content lol
I agree with the general sentiment of distaste for this Meta. I don’t think it’s fun, and I am not enjoying it. I have all the neutralize counters and hard armor-up defenders.
Things that would’ve helped a lot (pick one or two…not saying all at once):
Reduce the duration of the armor up buff
Reduce the power burn to 5% from 10%
Reduce defender hp pools so it’s a tiny bit easier to get points as you chip them down. 200% or 250% instead of 300%.
Have a counter node that benefits the attacker, similar to some of the AQ buffs. It wouldn’t be broken measures necessarily but something like it? There are times that I play into the node and still struggle to get tougher fights done.
Make the armor a 100% chance to proc at 10 charges and charges a 300% chance to reset at 10. This allows pacify and AAR champs to avoid the armor and get a bona fide window to continue attacking. It’s a little maddening seeing it stay at 10 and proc anyway.
Now it's just a matter of which champs I have rather than how good I am. And I have a 2.5M account. I am doing OK in the current meta but getting less and less interested in BG. My current favourites are Story quest exploration, Monthly cav EQ and SQ and Arenas. Get better rewards in big Sale events so Arenas are much more enticing to me as a FTP player.
We say that this node is for GC because its restrictive enough for it, but it is too much for VT, which should be for everyone to play, being better at it or worse, with better roster or with worse, but still being able to play.
With this node you ARE NOT ABLE to play properly, you can be all the skilled you could be, if you dont have X champions or if you dont draft, thats a guaranteed loss. Thats the problem with all of this.
And I repeat, I say this while having the champions needed for this node, pretty much almost every draft would be good for me. But it is not funny to play, it is too restrictive, and again, when in VICTORY TRACK, you win the match by getting less wrecked than your opponent, then thats not the node you should put in VICTORY TRACK, in Gladiator Circuit? would be cool, would be nice, as theres the real competition.
I think it shouldnt be that hard to understand why this is a bad node for VT.
If you want people with a vast roster to play BG then dont let anyone below Paragon to play it, if dont then dont put this level of restriction in the nodes because people will get upset, annoyed, will invest all his resources in rank ups to still get wrecked and then they will drop the game because they spent a lot of resources for no rewards.
In any given battlegrounds meta, you can attribute success to different factors. The broadest categories are skill, roster depth, deck building, drafting (choosing your 7 and deploying them during the match), and luck (who you draw as an opponent and what cards you pull).
I feel like this meta gives an outsized piece of the pie to roster depth because the nodes are so powerful that skill can’t overcome them. When a meta is so restrictive that I’ve leaving 6-star r4 champs out of my deck for max 5-stars, something seems off.
Also, this is a meta where the zero-sum nature of medals feels even more discouraging than usual. Imagine the following slightly different scenario - two medals for a win, minus one for a loss. Any level that takes two medals now takes three. Three medal levels take five. Five medal levels now take seven.
“Win loss win” would be enough to move past a bronze level. Winning 3/4 or 4/6 gets you through other levels before a finale that’s still tough.
It’s disheartening when you get dropped in a match you know you’re gonna lose, because it feels like you lose that match AND the win before it that you worked hard to grind out.

Gladiator Circuit is actually easier, at least for Paragon/TB accounts, since when you enter you are mainly matching and stomp UC/Cavs that eluded you at VT because of prestige matchmaking. Currently VT is as sweaty (if not more) as GC mainly due to prestige matchmaking, but also with the consecutive wins structure, and with nearly worthless very expensive Victory Shields that get burned even when you win 😂 If Kabam wants participation they need to make VT at least more casual. I personally don’t mind they node, but it ain’t appropriate for a “welcome to BGs” node. I’m sure many newer UC players will make their way to GC (faster than many Paragons of course thanks to Prestige matchmaking), winning matches against other UC players, without even understanding how they won their matches up to there 😂 The blend of VT try hard nodes, VT Prestige matchmaking and modding make the mode full toxic, instead of fun as most of the betas and first two seasons were. Battlegrounds are currently a mess 🙂

Did you read "fun" and see "easy" or something? I didn't say it was hard, I said that GC should be harder than VT as your fighting for rankings, VT you're not fighting for any rankings. I perfectly aware that I haven't reached GC as I have played 2 matches and decided its not worth it for me this month. I have however made GC each season prior to this one.

I'm guessing you're not fighting 15.8k+ only matches.

Not completely sure what your point was there.
