I think the 500 might be from before they boosted the points you get for each match, but maintaining a streak the entire time. In the past I had a 240+ win streak which got me to over 1 million points.
To me it looks like whoever did the estimate accidentally calculated based on the points per fight once the fights ramp up but without the multiplier. Without the multiplier its about 2k per fight times 500 fights equals one million. In actuality its closer to 6k per fight and it takes less than 200 fights. Not rounds, fights. I did it in 60 total rounds.
3 rounds in the morning, 3 at lunch, 3 in the evening, less than ten minutes per session, 9x7=63, plus or minus a few more fights and you're there in a week.
