How much do you enjoy battlegrounds?

I used to really like the game mode and find it very fun, but the grind to get up to Gladiator Circuit is just too stressful. Im a Paragon in diamond 1 and have been one win away from getting promoted a few times, and now I just don’t even want to play the game mode anymore because it just stresses me out or makes me angry. Got me thinking, How do others feel about the mode? Do you enjoy playing it or just play it for the rewards?

Where is the choice of....It would be the best game mode available if they got it under control. And by it, I mean the bugs, modders, crashes and overall uncontrollable mess that the mode is currently in... That's my vote

Hard to say, because there are so many caveats. I think I like the *idea* of BGs. As it is executed, however, it’s only viable because the team chose to bribe the player base into participating with a great rewards store.

Bugs, broken inputs, disconnections…all of this suggests to me the team’s hardware isn’t able to handle the mode. Whether it is unique to BGs or a holdover from the year of input issues is anyone’s guess, but it’s really a janky, unreliable mode. That’s both demoralizing and frustrating.

Add to that the current structure that lavishly rewards smaller accounts with progression at a fraction of the effort for more developed rosters and it’s almost like the team wants to irritate the player base.

One last thing…emotes. Dumb.

So why do I play it at all? The store and the goodies. That’s it.

With all the activities in the game, the player has to choose. He can’t play all (except to be connected everyday at least 6 hours).

At the difference of the Incursions, the Battlegrounds have got a good store that helps to rank up the champions and to get basic crystals shards. It depends on the priority of the player.

At best the Incursions just allow you to buy some 10-selected-by-Kabam-champions crystals. 81k of the Incursions currency are way too long to spare. And each Incursion is very looong (1 hour and half).
With my luck on these previous crystals, I don’t waste time on the Incursions

Do I prefer the Battlegrounds to the Incursions?
Yes, Shorter time-consuming, better store.
Are the Battlegrounds interesting?
Yes.
Should the Battlegrounds be changed?
Yes. Too much waste of seconds with all the different transitions, it could be optimized.
Would I play the Battlegrounds with a worse store?
No.

BG's has the best rewards in game, and its the most broken mode in the game - like giving kids brussel sprouts with chocolate in the center, fight through the pain to get the the sweet stuff. I do my 3 battles every other day (if is say do - i Santa bag) and buy 1k 6* shards. that adds up to about 2 free 6* per month, so why not.

Even the massive amount of "tournaments" we had streaming on youtube died down this month with hardly anything going on.

Feels like streamers also try and force it down our throat's - Lagacy's last BG stream had 12k views, Seatins EOP run, same time span had almost 30k views, so even the youtube community seems to start not caring about BG's and enjoying something else.

I hate how bugs cause bgs to be the worst game mode. I could've easily won a match today. In the first round i lost, in the second round i put guardian on defense and opponent put hulking on defense. I chose mojo as my attacker and opponent chose domino, it was a clear win until i won the fight and the screen showed lost. I checked the battle details and realised that the fight duration was 0 seconds and my mojo was already knocked out. If i could've won this round, the third round was automatically in my hand because of good all rounders

Matchmaking kills it for me, only do 3 matches for milestones (just match only based on current rating). The pause meta is horrible, so I just let it autofight to lose. Also I hate how long you have to wait for so many useless screens after the fight ends and all those timers that do nothing

Matchmaking, bugs, inputs. VT a horrible frustrating grind for bigger accounts.

Only good thing are the rewards.

Potential is there for this to be a fantastic game mode but current execution is poor imo.

Kabam finally tried something new with the monthly EQ and you guys are complaining before it’s even out. Depending on how hard the rewards are to get, this month could be pretty good.

Imagine saying that streamers are trying to force BGs down our throats just cause they stream it for fun. It’s also funny that the two view counts you brought up are for vastly different things. EOP is a much bigger deal than a few battlegrounds streams. I can’t believe you’re seriously comparing the two

I will add one more thing re: BGs that is vexing on top of all the others. Getting a heavy parried by a stunned opponent (even an unblockable one) is complete and utter rubbish. I suppose I’d file that under game controls/input issues/lag issues, but if the connection for the game to device cannot get fixed, then figure out a way to prevent things like phantom resist/parry from happening.

To reiterate: great concept, terrible implementation.

I love bgs to the point that I prioritise it over all other game modes.
I have found a workaround to avoiding connection issues which is to close the app,turn Wi-Fi off and then on and then restart the app after every couple bg matches. It’s a tedious process but it has kept the bg experience relatively free from the connection issues despite me playing this season on an iphone7 plus(primary phone having touch issues).
My roster wouldn’t have developed this much had it not been for bgs especially defensively.
Overall I would rate my overall bgs experience a solid 8/10.

Bugs, matchmaking and to easy metas.

To many bugs with disconnect autoselect your champs and just general gameplay issues.

Matchmaking should be totally random and not based on PI, prestige or whatever thing they are using right now within each given tier.

Metas needs to be harder. Previous month in Victory track was good, but this month were to easy.

I had sort of enjoyed BG's when it was first tried during the Betas. It was a nice "hey here's something to do"....

The last few seasons of it with all the bugs and issues, it just became something I threw to the side and said maybe I'll check it out again sometime in the future....

A 6* AG is less rewards? Your champ refresh time is only 5 minutes too. We’ll have to see though

This is a great question, because it cuts to the central question - fun - that should be in every interaction we have with the game.

Battlegrounds is a considerable achievement and a masive undertaking for a game at this point in it's lifetime. For me, it's the 'softer' elements I have more of an issue with - the cost of victory shields and elders marks, event scoring being so biased away from energy usage and the matchmaking sometimes too.

So although I picked hate, its not really that at all and the reality is more nuanced. It's the softer elements which have a negative effect on my perception of Battlegrounds.
