Getting above good at mcoc

Alright,
This is mostly aimed at summoners competing in higher war tier, ranking celestial at least in BG and generally considering themselves quite good and knowledgeable in MCOC. Everybody can join the discourse of course.
So, if you’re in that group, how much time do you spend on MCOC daily, and what do you use your time on?
I’m interested in how you practice your skills and general knowledge to keep an edge.
Do you practice a lot in certain quests? Try to visualize scenarios based on nodes and champions descriptions and then see if they work out in game?
In short, what’s your strategy for getting good and improving?

I usually do 200 rope skipping, 20 push-ups and 10 pull-ups and chinups each to prepare myself for war just to die 3 times in first fight 😃

That was fun, not really what I was hoping for, but I’ll take it.
Now, if anybody has some actual insight to share, that’d be quite useful (it can be fun too).

If you throw a special in their corner and then tap block quick, if your close enough its more likely the ai will throw a special back, made me more efficient. If you wanna be like beroman, learn the inns and outs of every champ. If you wanna be like msd, learn light intercepting, and figuring out which champs you can dex their dash and counter with a light(like Dani).

Also when the ai dashes back there’s normally a rhythm to when they’ll dash back into you, so practising that small timing space can help with intercepting.

Most likely takes the same commitment and effort to become elite in anything else.

It becomes a full time job or more, with continuous intense studying, hours of practice that would make any of us lesser beings' eyes bleed, personal sacrifices, and probably a lot of real money investment.

Never let yourself believe that you’re the best or smartest player in the room. Everybody does different things and you can learn tricks from other people you’d have never thought of on your own. Talk with your fellow players. Give advice where you can, and you’ll get advice back.

When somebody starts talking about their favorite champ, listen. You’ll probably learn about some piece of utility or interaction that you didn’t know.

@Antsiou - one thing that helped me develop was to run more arena. The fights are short and easy, but it gives you lots of reps playing through a wider variety of attackers and defenders. You get a feel for how every champ works, their animations and timing, and can practice different techniques in a low-risk environment. You can also discover good/bad interactions and are forced to fight whatever defenders come up with what is usually a non-ideal counter. Just be aware that the arena AI is more passive, so it's a bad place to practice things like intercepts.

One thing that has helped me and only discovered recently is watching livestreams of BG. More often than not you see the thought process in selecting the deck and champs, which at time I find way more valuable than the fight itself. I did also picked up a few neat tricks for certain fight while watching better skilled players perform though.

two things Ive found with baiting sp is to pause a little before holding block or dashing. the little pause gets them to try and take the opening. And if instead of throwing the sp they dash in you can dash back and keep them close. they can still be passive but you have to get them to think there is an opening so they throw it. takes work but hope that helps

I'm end game but not super super sweaty, I used to play master wars and whichever the highest AQ was at the time and I used to spend 4 hours a day in game grinding any and all content. Now I just spend 15-30 minutes in the game a day, and luckily my skills haven't deteriorated (too much)

I've never been in the top 0.1% like fintech and the like. I got old man reaction speed compared to those.

The old man reaction speed might be something I’m suffering from too. I’m 45 and I wonder if that actually plays a role in me not getting better. 😅
For context, there’s lot of good advice and I appreciate it. I should have noted that I’m ok at the game, Valiant, done all story content, always ended up at Gamma 1 / Arcane 3 or 2 in BG and explored Necro post revive farming nerf. I’m not a total noob, but I do feel like I hit a ceiling in terms of skills, thus the thread.
For BG, I’d love to make it to arcane or quantum consistently, but for now it’s a pipe dream.
