Why??? Wtf is with the war map portals?

Why is it that when you go to the right side of mini boss island, when you get to the end of it you have 3 portals that can get you to either the far left, middle or boss island, but when you go to the far left and get to the end you only get the choice of going to the middle, or boss island?????

That's a screwy design! If I can go right, then to the left, then to the middle, why can't I go left, then to the right, then to the middle?

It’s because it’s not an either/or. The mini boss islands are intended to be gone through sequentially, even though their spacing looks like they’re all at the same level. You can’t go backwards on the war map, so you have more options on the right island to continue going forward. If you hit the left island first, you’ve already skipped over the right island and cannot go back to it.

If that’s the intention, why not just lay them out linearly so it’s more obvious you are skipping over some islands? The horizontal layout implies they are equal and seems needlessly confusing.

The islands are really #1, #2, and #3, with the Boss island at end.

The portals allow going thru #1, #2, #3, and then Boss.

At first you can go to 1, 2, or 3.

But then from (example) being on #2 island, you can only go to #3 or Boss.

Agreed, that the LEFT and RIGHT islands should be more clearly staggered as to which one is before the other (like the MIDDLE one is clearly moved forward in its position).

Maybe they didn’t want to waste more overall space for the map, which would make you have to swipe (move) it a little further to observe the Boss island ?

But when you are actually choosing your destination, the order of the portal exit points 1/2/3 as listed do indeed follow which ones are “before” the other ones.
(pick the FIRST CHOICE in the portal list every time, if you want to be able to travel to EVERY island).

I understand that, but given I was on the left island, I was trying to go to the far right and I couldn't
Even when I went to the middle, I still had no portal to get to the right after that.

It's a really confusing and stupid way to set it up, if you ask me.

I definitely didn't want to go to the same island twice, just wanted to be able to hit all 3 which you can do if you hit the far right mini boss Island, then go far left, then middle.

But if you go far left first, you can go to the middle, then there's no option to go right at all.

You can think of it this way: If someone gets stuck on #2, it allows 1 player to take out 2 defenders in #3, which aids in further completion; It's a lateral move that helps with forward progression.

The coding for making sure you go to only one island at a time from any island sounds like it would be a nightmare. I understand what you're saying but I also understand why Kabam took the significantly easier way to do this.

They originally did, but it caused some nodes to be overlapped once you got champion portraits on it so they had to be spread out more horizontally

I didn't realize at the time I couldn't go right first, that's the first time I had ever tried left first and it screwed me for getting to KM. 😭
