Are 5* still worth ranking up for near cav player?

Depends on how quickly your roster is progressing. If you have some real good 5*s and not great 6*s, then it is worthwhile. My TB alt still relies on a few 5*s for content to round out my team

I still use 5 stars occasionally as a Paragon. I use Human Torch and Hercules as 5 stars most because I don't have 6 stars of them. They are enough to handle a lot of content, you just have to play better.

They're worth ranking up as long as you decide they are. If you get someone OP like Onslaught, Serpent, Enchantress, etc, it would be crazy to go "Wow, this character is really strong! Unfortunately, it's a 5* so that means I can't use them."

If a 5* Champ can fill an immediate gap on your team, absolutely rank them up. Especially because 5* mats are a dime a dozen nowadays, even for lower progression levels. You won't be hurting yourself in the long run.

And the answer is Yes.
you need R5 5* to clear certain aspect of the story.
But the twist is you only need a few. Get the most useful ones, a team of 5 versatile 5* can carry you enough.

You don't need to rank them up just because you have them. If you need to clear somthing in story, rank the ones you need. They are easy to rank.

Id rank all three of them lol.
I have 5* cgr and doom R5 in my alt. Sinister was not buffed at that time so he didn't get the cake.
But even as 5* Doom cgr and sinsiter are questing machines.

They cost so much to rank up to a usable level. IMO, if you get rank-up gems and have the gold then go ahead but I wouldn't use cats that can be used on 6* champs.

I said no but there are a few that are exceptions. Your roster is a tool kit and if you don't have power control or a certain immunity or whatever it may be then u gotta do what u gotta do.
