I think we can stop the conspiracy about buying the right to cheat. Also, we don't know what actions they take.

Certainly they didn't ban some of them for sure. 1 week bans don't work for cheating in pvp modes, it should be permanent ban directly otherwise it's unfair for legit players.

More worse is not even removing their ranks and updating them for the rest of the players.

@DrZola its ridiculous and Kabam gets no more benefit of the doubt from me moving forward.

    Understood.

    Re: the suggestion from
OP above…I doubt anyone gets a pass for buying something as small as the Sigil.

However, I can confirm my ranking with 2 minutes remaining in the season was identical to the ranking I just received.

That would support the conclusion that no one above me was removed or demoted after the season ended.

You can't rely on the Leaderboard to gauge what actions they took.

Sure, but it's the only thing most care about, since rankings were affected by these modders, and some of us could have ended in the next tier if these modders were banned and leaderboard is updated.

I have no idea what other potential action kabam could take that you're referring to? Except banning the players? Like sending a mail saying "modding is bad guys"?

Pretty sure there is atleast a few guys above you who have modded, so yeah, they didn't ban modders, or atleast some of them.

I don’t consider any punishment effective if it doesn’t include removing cheaters from the leaderboard entirely and promoting everyone below them the requisite number of spots.

The only titles they had were progression titles, titles for clearing most Everest content (including Necro exploration), the sigil title, and nothing else. So something was up, and they're still not banned after several months (they've had a few of the more recent titles added in since).

That's the problem with mistrust. It never ends. You either believe Kabam will take action or they won't. Then if they take action, you either believe it's appropriate or it isn't.
I mean, in a perfect world the cheaters would be removed and the Ranks redistributed. That's not always easy on a deadline. Also, if you remove the data, you remove the proof of cheating and the record of it. I don't think it's always possible.

I don’t think it would have helped me this season, but it would have in previous seasons and it would always help several someones every BG season.

Yeah well I don't really mistrust them. I hate kabam for a lot of things but always though their anti cheat policy is better than most other AAA games I've ever played.

But especially this season with improved rewards, kabam sure knows there will be a spike in modding, but I'm annoyed that almost a lot of players got away with it, which resulting in rewards missing out for some of us. Not to mention the countless losses to obvious modders in higher tiers.

So yeah, definitely it's natural to vent out our frustrations lol.

Oh for sure. This Season it was a resurgence, and I suspect it will be another pivot and evolve situation.

Nothing else. I hit them in BG (they took no damage twice) and really wanted to check before I reported someone.
Reported in game and sent Kabam an email to also look at their profile. I check in every once in awhile and they're still going. So I guess we're debating greed vs incompetence.

Even if they ban the cheaters but do not re-adjust the ranks then what's even the point? There will be new cheaters or the same cheaters with new accounts ready to ruin yet another season for players who play honestly.

I was just 1 point away from next rank but no change so basically they didn't do anything and that anti-cheat post was just a lot of words and no action.

You've spent years white knighting for a gacha company that makes its money from exploiting addiction. Why would anyone think they'd ever put morality over profit?

Because I enjoy the gameplay. I also enjoy beer, but don't think any alcohol company has my best interests at heart. That's just naive.

    Okay, time for school.
The alcohol company is doing what the alcohol company does. Marketing alcohol. Just as the game is marketing the game. Scores of people enjoy both and do so responsibly. They're not responsible for someone's problem with them.
I'm not just talking from another orifice. I'm in recovery, and have been clean for over 14 years. The disease of addiction isn't even about the substance. That's just a symptom.
These companies have no control over who brings what issues to the table. In fact, you'll find that they suggest you play/use responsibly. However, not everyone has a problem with it, and they can't stop someone from using any more than they're encouraging them to.
Now, I'm an open book about my situation but I'm sure there are many people who have gambling issues that play the game. That's up to their own struggle and efforts to get help. Not the fault of the game. Not once have I ever seen an ad that says "Lose your job! End your marriage! Buy Crystals no matter what!".
  • MFDOOMbotMFDOOMbot Member Posts: 61
That wasn't "school". I've been in the hospital with recovering addicts. I never said it was a company's responsibility. No one forces someone to gamble or use a substance. I'm saying a company that sells a service or product that's geared towards addiction isn't hung up on morals. And your last statement shows how delusional you are. No company is going to paint themselves in a negative light. Cigarette companies didn't put out warnings until they were legally forced to. I've also never seen anything from Kabam or any gacha game company on "play responsibly".
  • GroundedWisdomGroundedWisdom Member Posts: 37,689 ★★★★★
You made that assertion when you suggested they're exploiting addiction, and you then doubled down on it. That's just like....your opinion man.
As someone with extensive experience in and out of active addiction, I disagree.

You're just making an assumption. Exploiting doesn't always equal responsibility. Is Kabam hoping to exploit gambling addiction for profit? Yes. Are they responsible for you letting them do it to you? No, that was a choice you made of your own free will. I just don't think a company with that kind of model is really big into morals or a customer's well-being. You do for some reason. We'll just disagree I suppose.

You keep making the same baseless claims and try to sell it to me as something else. Aren't you accusing them of doing the same thing?

    Wrong.
You think that quote is baseless? That gacha games aren't hoping you'll spend more to keep trying to get what you want? That's stimulating the brain's reward system. It's the same thing any type of drug does. But you think Kabam doesn't want me to spend as much as possible doing that? That if I spend too much I can ask them for that money back maybe? You are a Kabam extremist.

I wouldn't say Kabam did nothing, they surely did something but clearly Kabam was overwhelmed by the hordes of cheaters that required investigation and Kabam din have the resources to manually investigate every single one for sure, I believe some went through the net

The cheaters are more sophisticated now

They don't do stupid stuff like 8 seconds killing of the defender

The cheating is much more subtle now, very borderline hovering near it can be done by very skilled player that kind of perfect play type of cheating
  • JESUSCHRISTJESUSCHRIST Member Posts: 2,347 ★★★★★
No game company can confidently say they caught 100% of all the cheaters in a season

There will always be some cheaters who went under the radar
