Help me understand the Count Nefaria hype

I’ve had nefaria for a while now, and I’ve found myself using him less and less as time goes on to the point that I took him out of my battlegrounds deck yesterday because I never drafted him. I’m by no means calling him bad. I see how great the parry evade, energy vulnerability when parrying the last hit of a special, healing off sp1, and control of power gain and healing matches are. But I feel like most of the time, I’d rather use another more specific counter. He feels like a jack of all trades, master of none type of champion to me. I also am not seeing the damage compared to the many great science nukes.

With that said, I keep seeing more and more love for him from the community as time goes on. I’d love you all to convince he that he’s amazing and I’m missing sometime. What matchups are people using him for and why are you using him over other champions?

Funnily, I thought he was amazing when the general consensus was dunking on him over the Unfazed mastery, and now that the general consensus is that he is the best, I am less inclined to use him.

A lot of it is skill issue on my part, but there are just too many unevadable specials, hard to evade-punish specials, and difficult to parry last hit of specials. When I need his utility, I'll use him, but otherwise for more general usage I'll rock with one of my Science-for-dummies champions.

Have been learning to use him recently as he was naturally duped so why not. Saw a couple of videos on how to use him and I’ve used him on Dark Phoenix quest which made it fun to play. Great write up above. His ability to control power gain and regen is super important especially when there have been plenty of nodes for opponents to gain power and regen. Fighting a champion with regen node but no counter can be very demoralizing when you see it regen back to full health

massive regen
power and regen control
good damage ( great damage if you can parry evade last hit of special and counter for energy vulnerability )
non contact hits in ionic mode
great for war and story content
not the fastest but very reliable

can be very annoying on defense as there are multiple projectile hits in his specials and they can catch you sometimes
