Battlecast Shard to Statcast Shard

While I understand why the new "Relic" Statcast will have new Crystals and Shards (essentially it own new pool).

For not Kabam not to give players the opportunity to convert their Battlecast shards to Statcast shards seem unethical, since Kabam have selling Battlecast crystals and shard up to very recently. While at the same time, Kabam have been working on Statcast in the background for a while now, but only let players know that they would come in a new crystals/shards.

Think an one off conversion store (Battlecast shards to Statcast shards) at the lauch of Statcast cause be a fair solution, it doesn't have to been a 1 to 1 ratio.

Unethical is maybe a bit of a strong word for my tastes, but I agree with the general sentiment. The new relics needing new shards is the only thing with today’s livestream that significantly upset me. From the relics deep dive post, it seems like Kabam was too scared about the many players who were sitting on hundreds of crystals worth of relics, but that’s entirely their fault. It hardly seems fair to punish players for collecting the resources you offered. If Kabam doesn’t want the whales to instantly have every relic immediately, just put a cap on the conversion so you only get, say, ten relics worth or something.

Also agreed with you on the idea of cap, to ensure it doesn't get abused.

Im sure unless your a mega whale you probably don't have all 4-6* battlecasts with maxed out sigs. So in that case they're still useful.

Agreed all around. If Kabam didn’t want too many battle cast shards sloshing around in the game economy, they should have stopped or slowed the distribution of relic shards as rewards around the time they stopped releasing relics.

I mean I’m ftp and I’m kinda close. All my 3-5* relics are max rank and awakened, not max sig but pretty high. I probably have enough relic shards that I could max out at least the 3-4* sigs, I just stopped because the sig benefits for relics aren’t really that impactful and I literally could not use the mass amount of embers if I opened them because, again, nearly all my relics are max ranked so I can’t level them up. Not like I went particularly out of my way to achieve this, just picked up relic resources as they came in side quests and in the BGs store.

Repeating my question from the recap thread: Once the new relics come out, will there still be means of getting the old relics? I'm still short a few and I needed to dupe even more. Will we still be able to do that or am I out of luck?

They mention that "for now" they aren't going to add new battlecasts but that could change in the future. So I would assume we're still gonna get those shards in content.

The embers and alloys will still be used for the new relics; the only thing that become 100% useless are the crystal shards. The fact that kabam sold crystals last week (and still are) that are worthless in a month as they “have no plans to make any more battlecasts”. Classic bait and switch

Could you please pass to the Kabam team the idea of a One Off Conversion store (with limit) for players to convert some of their Battlecast shards to Statcast shards.

Like other said Kabam was still seeling Battlecast shards/crystals up to recently, so only seem right to give players a chance (small amount) to convert their shards.

Would be good as part of the Statcast launch, sure will make the launch more exciting for players, something to look forward to. Instead of feeling like they been con into buying unless/outdated resources

Allowing summoners to refund shards to a currency like battle chips or radiance or the ability to trade in for higher level battle cast shards would make pain of collecting ( now lower worth) shards less.

A monthly trade in limit for the new shards would also keep a " balance" in new relics.

Battlecast Shards are not discontinued. They'll still be available to obtain going forward, not every player has all the current Relics - and all Rank Up Materials earned can be utilized by both forms of Relics.

The delta between players' hoarded battlecast shards is too large to responsibly launch a new resource utilizing those Shards.

I've had them all for years, and my shard stash is gigantic - I would love it as a player if they shared the same shard source. For many reasons, it wouldn't make sense.

I think k we understand the reason for Kabam’s concern but it doesn’t take away from the feeling that this was poorly planned and executed. The dev diary provides helpful context but it still seems like a transition of some sort would have been possible rather than simply shutting off battlecast releases, continuing to give antiquated rewards and then dropping a whole new system. Is it necessary to introduce 60 stat casts at one time? Seems kind of crazy, tbh. Introducing them four or six at a time would have allowed us to use common shards for battle- and stat casts and would have prevented those of us with hundreds of thousands of shards from snapping up 60 stat casts at one time.

We get this but there really should be some sort of limited trade in acknowledging that you guys failed at launching Battlecasts to some extent and just stopped working on them as a result while still selling and including them in the “rewards budget” all this time. I would have rather had champ shards the fast few years instead of any relic shards for the same “rewards budget”

Option 3 of releasing new Statcasts and even 2
New Battlecasts would have made a considerable difference in the reception of Statcasts and the new shards. As is I don’t believe we’ll ever get new relics regardless of what was said in the stream.
I don’t even care if new relics have no “abilities” just the option to equip more champs with Strikers instead of having to juggle them around would be great

So as an employee and a player who has all the relics and a huge stash of shards, what do you think is a fair way to deal with the massive stash of kind of useless shards for those in that position?

Like @BringPopcorn I do find it unethical that there have been A LOT of specific relic focused money deals (Odins which are at the top end of end game spending) knowing they’d be mostly useless to the target players that would buy the deals. Option to buy an Odin with champ acquisition and improvement resources or an Odin to help grow your relic roster, those who spent on the Odin relic bundles should feel ripped off that there will very likely never be a new relic to get from those shards

Option 2 seems the better choice.
No one asked for relics, when they were announced the majority of the player base was against them, then kabam fumbled the **** out of the concept.
I imagine something similar will happen with statcasts.

If I am not wrong they warned us beforehand long time ago when they discussed about this topic that NEW RELICS will have news ways of Acquisition.
And if they let trade, then hoarders will have field day on release day. That would upset many entitled brats who don't hoard. I myself holding some shards as well but i don't have every relic. IMO trading would benefit me a lot but then again it would be unfair as well.

Just let the race begin from 0. Whales as usual will be in lead in no time while F2P will put up good competition.

Oh so here we go again. We are going to base rewards on the people that don't have instead of the people that have been playing for a long time and managed to collect a bunch of shards. So are you guys going to reward the people who actually put their time, money and resources at all ever? Or is it always going to be based on what people don't have or are still trying to get something?
The fact that you guys will keep on rewarding battlecast shards cause there is people who are still collecting gives an even worse feeling. It actually means people like me will continue to collect this shards that have ember value 🤣.
Over 2 years having BG rewards based on relics and relic rank up mats for you guys to push a reset button. Push it 12 hrs after you guys sell packages for highest rarity telics and rank up mats.
