Defenders with relics?

I just updated my game and I am in the middle of valiant EQ but I just saw this spider ham with a gold name which u only get if u have a relic equipped so does this tease that defenders will be able to use relics?

Update: just went into the quest and this shows up (look top right)

They did say that stat cast relics would work on defenders. Just not the striker functionality. I thought this only meant battlegrounds or arenas where you face other peoples champs where they can equip them. Adding them to the standard cpu fights is news to me.

In war there is now a section to see which relic the champion has and the relic's abilities. Of course nothing shows up there yet since there are no statcast relics.
