I play the game where I’m reminded that this is a mobile video game that will eventually end service and I’ve already spent thousands and thousands of dollars over the last 9 years on it for reasons I don’t understand.

No Man's Sky just had a huge update and it's awesome… not only is it awesome, but they haven't asked me for a single penny in the 10 years since I bought the game.
