Darkhawk lag?

The long and short of my post: game only lags when I get to Darkhawk, even after beating him and starting new run lag is gone at start of map.
I have iPhone 8+ and pretty solid internet, but every time I get to Darkhawk in uncollected I get crazy lag and can play against him properly.
I know it’s lag and not me getting use to his game mechanic because I was able to drop him to 20% health with an R3 masacre (he is R4 worthy, great character).
My next 4 fights got 0 hits on DH, using stronger champions of domino, Hyperion, red hulk, and void. All R4 or higher.
I took a break and revived and got him down, but lag came back again.
I went back to the start of the match for my 3rd run, and the game speed was back to normal.
