Do synergies work for war defense teams?

Just trying to find out if synergy works in war defense. It shows changes in hero rating, just not positive if it translates to defense...

    They have been down for some time now with no signs of them ever coming back which may be a good thing due to how over powered some of them are and how frustrating they will make some fights
