1. The actual champion pool. Science used to be the worst in terms of the champions, but Kabam have buffed 4 science champions within the past 14 months. The best tech champions in the game need a lot of practice and skill to be effective and most of them need to be awakened too, making them less effective than let's say corvus or magik. But the worst tech champions (IP, Hulkbuster, War Machine) are always considered to be some of the worst in the game, with the rest of the tech pool being considered just average.
2. The lack of a consistent gimmick for the tech class. If you think about it, most of the champs in each class fit under certain characteristics (Mystic nullify/power control, Skill bleeds/true strike/shrug debuffs). But tech champions are either glass cannons (Star-Lord, Stark-Spidey, Ghost, Rocket Racoon), or long-lasting tanks that usually end up on defense (IMIW, Sentinel, Darkhawk)
TL;DR The best tech champs in the game need to be either awakened or practicing a certain playstyle, the 3 worst tech champs are among the worst in the game, and tech champions are either high damage with low survival or low damage with high survival
While mystic does have 5 great champs, none equal ghost, or, st, sparky, aegon, void, hype, medusa, sl, ...etc. and to think it used to be the best.
