It will be great to rank him up, as he's been lying useless and sad for so long...
Unlike Colossus, IP, OML and Howard, Groot is:
* not a meal for Corvous in AW defense.
* not metal which can be a pain sometimes
* a XL champ that can help in variant2, AQ map7 and other future "size matter"\"glancing" nodes
* a 2015 champ (with few others) that you can use your rank up ticket
* can remove debuff faster (unless they will take down this ability) - useful against some nodes like the one with the chance to evade and leave you stunned for x seconds
overall, if they will just increase his attack and make his buffs actually do something he has the potential to be a decent champ.

2015 Mutant gems.
He’s the oldest one here, so more people will have him.
Groot, poor as he is, still has a better damage output (via pacifism) and better utility (regen) than Colossus, even with the Emma and Omega synergies which most people can’t take advantage of anyway.
I have him and I don’t enjoy suffering.
