No synergy needed with Doom. He's very tanky so can take a few hits. If you have a mutant with prowess, it makes it easier and faster but Doom is a tank so that's why he's great for it…3 -

The new Sector 7 for this months special event only allow X-Magica Saga. The rest of the sector (1-6) are not affected by this, those you can use any champ you want.2
