That’s not what they’re doing, he has a synergy (with spider-gwen and a couple others) that makes opponents miss during his heavy charge, which was missing a cooldown timer.1 -

Yeah, for the devs the big reason to have larger shard #s is that you can be more granular, but since most of the shard rewards are round numbers anyway I don’t think there’s much reason to go beyond…1 -
