The real issue is they doubled the cost of crystals and kept unit payouts the same. Your units are now worth half as much as they were before.1 -

It is based off of who rushes forward second. The AI seems to have changed to now hesitate for a split second so that they are able to rush forward after you start your attack and catch you.1 -
