Let us modify our own posts!

Is it possible to take a more permissive approach to letting us modify our own messages?

A couple of times now, I've posted something, edited it, then noticed that I had missed an autocorrect. Editing a second time inevitably means that my post disappears until 'checked'.

Why is this? Surely the whole point of an edit function is to let us edit this stuff?

It's a small point, but a bit irritating; so I thought I'd make the request. It might even save a bit of unnecessary checking by the mods, and free them up for more productive work.

Cheers!

It is so that we keep the integrity of our posts, if people could edit as they wanted any argument could become manipulated by people editing their previous comments to change the conversation.

Fair point, @Sungj but surely that's what the 15 minute timer is for?

Basically, the main problem is autocorrect! Just need to read more carefully as I go, I guess.
