Not enough Defenders, need strategy

We have 3 Battlegroups in AW.

let say we only have 20 members, the other 10 did not join, OK how do we plan this placement of defenders, please advice.

Only open 2 Battlegroups? You don’t have to open all 3?

Ya, just open 2 BG if 10 people don't join AW. If you opened 3BG and then only 20 joined. I would either leave 1 BG free and let them have that win and hope you are strong enough in the other 2 BG to hold them off and beat both BG's or organise the three BG's 7,7,6. You will be giving away same amount of free nodes but may get lucky and some of your Bosses survive.
