Thorns damage

Went to run the thorns path in the new uncollected and thought I was taking way too much damage. Low and behold I Am. Almost 30% damage instead of the stated 15%. What’s up with that nonsense?

Looks like the thorns damage is also boasted by the node maybe? I don't have any other explanation. The damage should be about 420 (2805*0.15). Or is there a multiplier for critical hits?
