Unawakend 5* Void

So Void is just one of those champs that have dodged me for so freaking long, dont even have him as a 4*, but yesterday i finally got that 5*!! so my question is, how far should he be ranked unduped? what is his uses. In typical fashion of my luck i have AG in just about every other class then science who i regrettely now but not then used on Luke Cage

I took mine to r4 unduped, and r5 duped. I had specific use for him in AW on my path, and even unawakened he was useful to me. But I think for the average player he's worth taking to r3, then just play him yourself and decide if he's worth going higher in that state.

Void has some interesting and not always obvious or well-commented on uses. The use most commonly discussed is the fact that his debuffs, specifically petrify, can reverse power gain and healing. One stack slows, two stacks stops, and three or more stacks (meaning: Fear of the Void which counts as two + one or more additional debuffs) reverses. Unawakened you aren't going to be getting FotV so the best you can do is stop healing and power gain with two stacks of petrify. That's still pretty good. The other obvious property of Void is that he can kill with his degeneration, which means he can kill things without actually hitting them. That can be useful against targets that are dangerous to attack, like autoblocking champs such as IMIW and Medusa, as well as high armor and resistance champs (because degen is not resistable).

Beyond that he's incinerate immune making him a good choice against champs like (and especially) Mephisto. And he is one of those champs with a fast and long range heavy, so he is good against champs that require using unblockable or heavy attacks. For example, a use case I find he is good at that is unconventional is fighting MODOK. First, you don't have to hit him often so you don't put yourself in as much jeopardy with autoblock. Degen ticks away on him. And second, Void is easy to cycle heavy attacks with, so you can heavy MODOK constantly without triggering autoblock at all.

My awakened 5/65 Void did the entire thorns path in the monthly quest by using this strategy: hit into block to push them backwards (and away from my wall), let the degen build up, slowly gain power from letting them hit into my block, and use the occasional special. I did use some potions but on average I only lost about 20% health per fight. Is this the best strategy for that path? Probably not. But it was workable, and another example where Void's unconventional mechanics create an opportunity for him. And I did the entire path in one shot.
