Weird thing with heavy attacks

I don’t have any video evidence, but there’s been a weird thing for me lately where I’m attacking into a defender that’s charging a heavy attack, and my attack randomly misses like when you try and attack into a special attack. Is this a thing with the hit boxes or a bug? Just to clarify, there were no unstoppable nodes, and I was close enough to hit the defender if it was working normally.
