Hawkeye 5 star 3sp

I just recently recieved my first 5 star hero- Hawkeye. when I used his sp3 a bar showed on the screen with a block moving across. taken by surprise I didn't do anything and got the message "too late ". anyone know what that's about?

5*s have a feature to do bonus damage or receive less damage from special 3s. Time it at the center and get 20% damage bonus or damage reduction
