Armor shatter VS Red Skull

Fought Red Skull with Medusa in the Quest for the stones sidequest. I inflicted an armor shatter to prevent any more armor buffs from procing. He went over a bar and gained an armor buff. I use Medusa almost every time I play and I know that shouldn't be possible because his armor isn't passive and armor shatter prevents armor ups from procing. I know this is literally the smallest thing but hey, it's there.
