After playing this game for a great number of years IV got to a point where my roaster of champs is great but my own appility seems to be holding me back IV got to act 5 chapter 1 but can't seem to make any progress and tips on how to become a better player aka GET GOOD ?

Grind the arena to hone your skills try streak 10 and above in the 4* basic with rank 3 3* teams that will bring your skill lvl up pretty fast the only thing that develops skill is practice dude

there are a lot of content creators out there who have video guides on how to get better at certain fighting skills in the game. Dork Lessons is probably one of the best for general fighting, but other people have guides for playing certain characters.
Though... you're saying you're trying to get through act 5.1? Well I'm guessing you're getting stuck on either Flare, Breakthrough or Brute Force.
For Flare, just go into fights with class advantage to reduce the degen per second, and bring champs that deal a ton of damage to further reduce the degen.
Breakthrough is all about lasting long enough, cause once you get past 25-30 hits, the defender will have negative armor and your damage will shoot up.
Life Transfer is easy cause you could mess up, but you can regen the damage taken back up cause you regen for just over the amount you deal.
Burden of Might... that one's weird. You get +50% power gain once your first buff in the fight expires, but getting buffs reduces your power gain and buffs expiring drains some of your power. Either bring champs that don't use buffs and don't dex that much, or deal with next to no specials, or at least much less power gain.
And Brute Force... combined with Kinetic Instigator (you get some power when you hit into their block)... just parry and combo and you won't find it too bad. And hit into their block a bit sometimes if you want a little bit more power. I found Corvus Glaive to be super useful for that quest.

5.1 is where you get just normal 'parry and 5 combo, repeat' with some extra bits. 5.2 is where it starts getting into 'play a little bit differently'. Power Shield means champs with strong specials really shine. Buffet and Masochism cause you to either try to use less buffs or debuffs, or just power through it... and bane asks that you try to time stuff around a timer that you really don't want on you that much (cause it's degen). Yeah the first half of act 5 isn't too bad. It's when you get into 5.3 that it really sucks. Please Kabam change it to -25% if you don't have the relevant class. Change those nodes to minor variants to do that if you have to. It really sucks otherwise.
