News updates during scheduled maintenance?

It’s good practice to give updates when servers are down for maintenance. I find the in-game error to be less than an optimal experience. Why not a simple news alert on the site? Maybe even expected down time, the dudes working on it, where they live...

    They do send a message in game that states estimated down time. Not everyone goes on the forum that plays. Apparently not everyone that plays reads the messages either.
