Is it possible for F2P players to get the high-end masteries?

Can a free-to-play player get the high-end offensive masteries like Despair and Deep wounds etc.? Provided they don't grind Arena much. How long will it take to get all the costly masteries? If it is possible at all.

Quite a bit of variables, but simple answer is yes, it's possible. Timing depends on the player and how much time they're investing.

Yes, just takes a while, I’m an endgame f2p player and get about 3000 units a month from arenas without spending my life there, with about that amount maxing despair assassin and deep wounds would take 3-4 months

Yup, I save up units to do it. Granted it took time, but it was well worth it

Yeah. The caveat is that it will probably take you a freaking long time, and you can’t really spend any units on anything. Preferably, you also have some story quests unexplored for farming units. I’m FTP, and I’ve got Despair maxed out, 4 points in deep wounds, and 3 in Assassins. However, this took me saving from act 3-ish, and that was maybe a year and a half ago.

Edit: I should note that I’ve fully explored act 4, got UC, and explored act 5 chapter 1 in my point of progression

Free 2 play players have to do arena as its the main source for units, which is the games currency. If u want the high priced items its going to take time in arena and to save up units or spend the cash when they have great deals like on the 4th or something.

You get 60 units per difficulty (except UC) each monthly EQ.

So if you run through the other 4 difficulties once, you'll total 240 units.

Deep Wounds, Assassin, etc. take 820 total units (for the cores) per level.

So if you absolutely refuse to do arena, and you're willing to do Beginner-Master each every month, you could unlock a new premium mastery of mastery level in roughly 4 months.

Though I highly recommend spending time in arenas to at least hit the milestones to tremendously speed up the process.

Also do the quests. Easy ones like hero use give 25 units @ 4th reward. 3 day alliance events also give units. That’s a few hundred more a month.

There was a cracking deal done maybe 4-5 months ago where mastery cores were reduced something like 60-70% from memory. I bought the bulk of mine then for DW/assassins. Might be worth saving in the hope of a repeat, I’m not sure how often these things come around but it feels like we are due another one...

Maybe they put cores in as side quest rewards some Day again.
Like Rockets scrapyard or so.

Save your units and be ready when there is a mastery core sale. Also, the further your roster advances, the easier it is to make traction in the arenas with minimal effort.

Real question is, if you don't arena due to time constraints but want units without paying, is story/eq/etc with its finite supply of units a better use of that time? Arena unit rewards and potential battlechip unit rewards refresh every 3 days, and are available in 4 separate arenas. Ultimately that's the decision to be made...
