I'm excited to already have completed Beginner and Normal (to get my Marvel Insider Points) and already 100% Chapter 1 and 2 in Heroic and working on getting Chapter 3 100%. Not only that but week 1 of class trip is 100% and already have the first path of week 2. For me being a F2P player I'm excited to clear this much content in the first week of the new event.

For mid level to End game players what should I try next to progress?

I haven't completed or fully explored Act 4, Still working on RTTL. Not only that,but I have not done either Variant.

I'm a mid tier player, I'd say run for completion on act 4 depending on how good your champions are, I went through it with only 3 4/40 4* champions (Moon knight, Iron man IW, Omega red) And 3/30 Cap IW and Spidey Symbiote, all unduped except moon knight. After that if you still think you're good enough run through master difficulty on the EQ (I'm currently at chapter 2)
You might want to run through act 4 first for the upgraded daily free crystal which can drop better heals and revives to help with completing master difficulty

When I arrived at Act 4, I was pretty bored. Back then, the energy cost per tile was insane and the paths way too long. Exploring is even a big nightmare. It was only since recently I completed Act 4. Haven't done story quests ever since. I focus my energy on AQ/AW/monthly EQ, I don't have the time to do story quests.

That said: story quests aren't everything and you can progress in the game without them but I would recommend completing Act 4 as a minimum.
