So this part of journey is the end of all free to play players like me ........boooooooo kabam
You can still play the game free exactly as you have been.
But still bro, premium users will have edge in arenas and wars(as they will have better champs)
If spending didn't give players access to something non spenders don't have, why would people spend at all? That's literally the entire model of freemium games. You have the ability to play the game for free and progress at whatever pace you're willing to spend the time to achieve. Or, you can spend and progress faster. The goal is to implement that system in a way that doesn't completely unbalance the game which surprisingly, I feel kabam does a decent job with. You have to spend very large sums to make any measurable jump in this game. This offer however doesn't really give anyone a major advantage over anyone really. They can hold a few more items, spend less time in arena, and get some bonus shards (which have been offered in plenty of other offers for years). None of that creates that large of a gap between those that spend and those that don't honestly.

How will they have better champs?
Through premium solo quest
There is no premium solo quest. There is a solo event that is just another additional solo event along with the ones everyone already has like level up and combat events. The only "quest" is the gold quest which is one fight for no energy. I'd hardly call that a quest or game changing.

I agree
So how is this the end of f2p? That makes no sense to agree with what I said and claim f2p is done
"Worth it" is a matter of how you look at it. Free to play players will say no, others will say absolutely. I fall in the middle, where I could take it or leave it. My issue doesn't lie with the $10, it lies with the principle.
I have been playing since pre-12.0, and not since then have I been a complainer on forums or publicly. Its a game, I pay for games I enjoy on other platforms without a twitch. This is something Kabam is blatantly giving Summoners the Finger and here's why I think this way.
In the last few years, as the Contest grew and resources grew, we asked for raises in the inventory caps, and after a while they tossed them in updates, for free. We've asked for more gold for the shortage, Kabam randomly tosses in a Gold Realm, for free. We've asked for quicker energy refills... well OK they didn't do much there aside from random events where it generates faster. It shows they listened. We were mostly happy.
Now this, to me, personally, it says "We've heard you. You need these changes to make the game more enjoyable for you, sustainable for end game players and an environment to grow in for new players. We've heard you and you can have these things...pay for them."
To me they are just peeing in my Cheerios at this point and telling me, eat them or don't, we don't care. If you pay though, we will bring you a new bowl of Cheerios, sans the urine. Anyone who buys this, IMHO, is just opening the door to the end of the game as we know it, and ushering in a pay to succeed paradigm.
I like the idea of a subscription service but maybe take a couple things out and make it around $5 or $6 I just feel like $10 every month will get old fast, especially when you consider that it probably will go up in the next 6 months, now don’t get me wrong I’m not one of those ppl that thinks it’s dumb to spend money on a mobile game but when you multiply $10 by 12 months you’re looking at $120+ (When it goes up in price) a year just to get a few perks, some of which could’ve probably been offered standard(golden circle) or as a one time pay to upgrade sorta deal(higher inventory cap), that’s a whole other topic tho. I guess my point is that you should be able to feel comfortable and satisfied with spending $120+ a year on anything really but so often I don’t feel that satisfaction with a lot of areas of this game and it feels not right to spend 120$ A year on it but if it were a bit more manageable price like $60 a year(or $5 a month) sounds like I could get behind it even if it was just for faster recharge, higher inventory cap and a bit of gold 🤷🏼♂️
I won't act like $120 a year is nothing but it's less than I spend on a lot of things I spend far less time using. I probably spend far less time watching cable than I do playing mcoc and I pay more in a month for cable than I would for a year of this subscription. I'm not sure why people have the "it's just a mobile game" attitude when it comes to money but are willing to spend far more on other things they probably use far less.
After cooling off from reading the forums and my initial thoughts on the subscription, I can agree with ya on this.
I could be wrong in this thought process, but it could that the overpriced items that we don’t hesitate buying have an established set of knowns to it. The mobile game has unknowns and people are hesitant on that unknown with the price tag, or frustrated based on previous experiences with kabam.
Either way, in the end it’s the player’ money and decision on whether to make the purchase or not.

And I fully get that. People should spend their money of the things in life they enjoy. If you don't enjoy this game enough to spend money on it, absolutely don't. If you enjoy spending $10 for a coffee that's more desert than coffee, go right ahead. I just don't get when people scoff at not even spending money on a mobile game themselves but when others do it at that.

Okay I get what you’re saying and I don’t have that attitude toward mobile games at all I spend pretty causally especially when I’m pleased with what’s going on in the month:) and when the time comes I guess I’ll have to decide whether this is worth it to me or not but it’d be nice if even they offered a less expensive version with only the essentials like I named above

That’s where the entitlement comes in unfortunately...
Honestly, I wish they would rename these types of threads “rants” rather than discussion threads. We have seen this same thing time and again, where something is changed or offered and both sides of the “discussion” just go off on one another. One side is called shills, the other side says either the offer/change is completely fair and the others are just a bunch of whiners. All the while the mods are most likely sitting back with popcorn and just letting the base wear itself out and continue to create larger divides within itself. Little to no discussion actually happens unfortunately because both sides feel they are completely right and the other side couldn’t be more wrong.
Regarding this offer, it’s not game breaking. It offers slight advantages for a small price. Will those advantages change with the price in the future? Most likely. The game is a business. If they don’t get people to spend, we don’t have a game. If you don’t like the offer, don’t buy it. If you want to keep yelling at each other, by all means continue to do so, but understand you are just wasting your time. No arguments will sway either side of this (and most) debates/“discussions” on this forum.
I don’t like the offer so I won’t opt in. Could that change in the future? Yep. However, in this case, I’d rather save the outrage or anger for the inevitable case where it’s actually warranted.
I'm guessing we will see a more premium Sigil eventually offering:
- Pre-set mastery builds with options to switch between them instead of total reset and manually adding each mastery point - Pre-set arena team - Clear all help button - Request help on all champs for arena button
Just going with the trend.
There are prominent players who have requested an option to pay for those perks. Most to me are unreasonable as they are a competitive advantage in a major area F2P players are able to compete against people who pay so I don’t see them being implemented. However I wouldn’t be surprised to see preset masteries monetized in some fashion if it came into being; my first experience with something like this being introduced was in a game you payed a monthly subscription fee to.
I took a break yesterday and I don't see the same venom I saw going back and forth and not respecting opinions that I saw yesterday which is good. I think we finally hit some type of middle ground for a forum which is good.
Going back on topic, the biggest thing the subscription offers is 11k shards for a featured crystal. That will be really enticing for the whales. For me I have a decent roster with 7 r5 champs so the basic is good enough for me to use with about 70 5 stars. I will not be picking up this offer but I already stated how it can be better moving forward. Hopefully kabam doesn't go out of control with the changes but I don't like the precedent inventory space is setting.
Don't worry, I'm not going to rant or whine. I'll be brief. It seems to me that this "battle pass" style subscription is very... controversial to say the least. And you know what? I want to create a compromise. If we follow the standard battle pass formula, there should be a pass tier, for the paying players, but there should be a free tier. There. Now everyone gets perks. The paying people just get slightly bigger perks. Other games do it such as Fortnite, Clash of Clans, and recently other games. If Kabam wishes to appeal to this new system, it should follow the formula. Hopefully, we won't have another comment war about this.

Others have brought this up as well. I agree that would stop majority of the complaints. The lack of access is the real f2p issue that a lot have missed and some couldn't articulate. 10$ is 275 worth of units. I'm pretty sure some f2p guys would put up 750-1000 units per month for those same perks.
I can see that, but I also think that's an argument that is made when anything is sold. People who don't spend generally want access to whatever it is. The terribly logical point on that is, why would people pay if they could get it without spending?

You are exactly right.
I know players have been asking for bigger inventory and more gold opportunities. Kabam found an opportunity to increase their revenue, at least that is their hope, and acted upon it. I am a spend little to play, not quite free, and certainly reviewed the benefits but ultimately feel like the value is not there for me. Not everyone will agree with me but I feel the outrage over not getting a few perks without paying for them is unwarranted. Maybe it is because I am older, but I see nothing wrong with companies making money where they can.
I think this is a good start to potentially move away from the crystal deals (which can be viewed as loot boxes). I am guessing the pricing will be subject to popularity and what items might be included in the subscription. The faster energy generation is nice, but would like to see more free energy refills instead (so they can be used when the subscriber needs the energy the most). I do agree that a base inventory space increase is needed, they should tack on the 25% after a 25% percent increase for everyone. How about also a reduction of pricing on Pots and Revives (along with higher level pots and revives for the increased 5* and 6* rosters)?
People would spend if they could get it for free. Even though units aren't exactly free depending on how you get it. If the subscription were lets say 30 bucks a month which is 850 units and they would then charge f2p value of 1700-2000 units a month that is way harder to grind arena for overall. So lets just not stick with the initial price and use a little foresight on the issue. The access would still be the same but "expensive" for f2p players to keep up with.
Also, to put that suggestion into perspective, I'm an avid Grinder. I average about 1000 Units a week. Of course, I have a considerable amount more time than most. That would essentially be half a month's "pay" (so-to-speak), for something I can get for the price of a couple days of Starbucks. I don't think people would be willing to pay the Units for that. If they buy them, they might as well get the Subscription.

So you're saying let people purchase using units as an option, but their unit cost would be at a higher rate than a cash purchase? That isn't terrible, but then I think you open up the floodgates of unfair pricing complaints. And it could get sticky with legal issues (I don't know about the legality for fact but certainly could be and has to be considered). If I'm not following your thought, feel free to correct me.
People still drop hundreds if not thousands on FGMC's alone.
Remember that Mcoc was purchased by Netmarble back in 2017.
Future Fight draws alot from what direction Mcoc is heading to
1. Future fight has 12 week calender, that give pretty good rewards, dont forget in mcoc u basically get a free 5* awakening crystal. back then that crystal alone was valued at $100.
2. Also has a VIP system that rewards you the more you spend
3, Future Fight power creep is way more demanding that mcoc, there are things called tier tier 2,3 for character that require alot of end game farming, Sure you can easily get ur favorite marvel characters, but farming to "max" out ur character takes alot of resources, its a #'s game
4. Future Fight has a subcrption for its premium currency, same way as units, BUT also has a subscription for character, the game uses bios/shards for each character to rank up 1-6 6* Characters are locked behind a paywal subcription
5. Future Fight RNG type gacha like crystal are things like comicbooks/gear that makes your character alot more powerful and give u %boost
all in all, the subcription doesnt restrict you, from what you are doing now. You get bonuses if you actuallty spend, $100 = 1 odin is 3100 units $100 - for 12months basically give u 3600 units + alot of perks like 4,000 5* shards a week and saving 8,000 5* shards for 2 featured 5* crystal.
Here is a comparison
But... im more interested in a end game scubcription,
at my current progress, id like to see 6*/T5B subscription,

Yes, we're on the same page @TheVyrus. Unfair pricing would be the complaint but that is the same with every offer outside of 4th of July and cyber Monday. This way we eliminate the feeling of being left out that made this thread so divisive, if that makes sense. I think double the price or maybe even triple the units in some cases for the subscription would be fair if there was a unit option available.
