no offence meant... but I'm just guessing that maybe you read the exception as ONLY special event items. I sorta read it like that too...

You would also have to ignore the preceding line “for many basic items”.

Awakening Gems didn't increase. Only other one I noticed that didn't increase in my inventory.

Items that have increased limits are highlighted yellow in your inventory.

As far as I can tell, energy refills, awakening gems, rank up gems, and the special event items still have the original inventory caps. Mastery cores I think don't have an inventory cap so of course their inventory limits can't change.
