Cap IW and Death's Embrace

I have noticed that Captain America Infinity War doesn't nullify the unstoppable buff from Hela's Death's Embrace node. His abilities say that when he's Kinetically Charged (has 1+ Kinetic Potential) he has a "100% chance to Nullify Unstoppable Buffs on hit." But we were doing AQ Map 2 (she's the mini boss) and I have not been able to Nullify her Unstoppable yet. I am very familiar with his ability since I use him against Juggernaut thought SQ/EQ. Is this an issue?

I searched the forums and Google/Reddit but couldn't find any discussions on this.

Even if Death's Embrace gives her a passive Unstoppable buff, it seems to me he should still be able to Nullify it. His ability sheet simply says he can Nullify Unstoppable Buffs, which (at face value) should include all buffs, whether active or passive.

Do you think this is one of those abilities that is not clear and everything is working as intended? Or could it be a bug? Should we read it as only active buffs, if it doesn't state otherwise?

That seems to be the proper interpretation if this is not a bug. What's your source for that statement? Have you read that in the forums previously?

For example CapIW fury is passive and does not trigger buffet and is not blocked by fate seal, it also does not trigger MD. From this we can see passive effects are not buffs

Thanks, Rotelly. That makes sense. I use Cap IW against Dormammu as well, but the passive fury does not trigger Dormammu's awakened degen ability. So, I guess I need to stop thinking of them as passive buffs, but rather as simply passives or passive abilities.

Cap cant nullify passive unstoppable. Only spidey gwen and she hulk can with their slow debuff

here are the general “guidelines”
Buff= active buff with the ring timer/boarder
Passive= faded looking colour, no boarder and the timer is the icon itself beside the symbol
Effect= both of those it’s an “either or kind” of thing or “and”

Examples:
Corvus is immune to shock debuff damage when glaive immunity is active. But if you trigger a passive shock he will receive damage. While electro is immune to shock effects So he is immune to both passive and active/debuff shock

there has already been many official responses on this in other threads. there are passives and buffs, they are not the same. buffs have the white boarder passives do not. it is counter intuitive but that is the way it works.

They're technically called 'Passive Effects.' As an avid CAIW user myself, I initially ran into this with Night Thrasher when he was introduced. He had a Passive Unstoppable when launching his Medium attack that couldn't be Nullified due to the fact it was a 'Passive Unstoppable Effect.' Unless it explicitly states 'Unstoppable Buff,' and it lacks a white ring/boarder around the timer, it's safe to assume it's a Passive Unstoppable Effect.

This is likely why the Slow Debuff was introduced to counter Unstoppable Effects (which includes Buffs, but not limited to them), and specifically Thing, who is Nullify Immune. On the flipside, if you run into the Boost Buff Node coupled with Unstoppable it makes the Slow Debuff a bit less effective as it only reduces the effect by 100%. Boost to 150%, that leaves 50%, and allows the effect to partially work. In that case, if it is a Buff, CAIW is your man considering Nullify isn't limited by AAR percentages. Nullify just 86-es the Buff.

This right here is very true. They have clarified this in the past, and the white ring/boarder is how you tell if it's a Buff or a 'Passive Effect.' I forgot at this point which mod enlightened me about the white ring, but I distinctly recall the post and it making more sense. This does extend to Passive Fury (CAIW), Passive Armor (IMIW), and other in game effects. No white boarder on the Timer, it's a Passive Effect. White Boarder, it's a Buff and can be Nullified (unless the champ is immune to Nullify). There are also other 'Passive Effects/Abilities' that don't have timers and can only be bypassed by AAR or built in Immunities (i.e. as mentioned above, Electro's Passive Shock damage when you hit him).
