Awakening Beardo vs Birdo

I have 4* Captain America IW and Darkhawk and one generic awakening gem. Love playing Cap IW and could use Darkhawk. Know both could use awakening. Should I put the gem into one of them? (Have no science sig stones / 55 tech sig stones.)
