Aegon's combo shield synergy not working

So, recently I was playing with my Aegon sig 77, I was using the synergy with Proxima so that way I get both synergies. However, I noticed the combo shield wasn't working whenever you got hit. I didn't put much thought into it and a few days later, today, I tried it again and it is not working either. Any fix?
My team was an awakened Aegon, Proxima, Heimdall, Angela, and Hela.
