How does this work?

I was dueling a havok with my iron man infinity war and I had multiple armor ups and I took the dentonate damage from havok but wouldn’t the armor up prevent this?please someone explain this to me

I think that you don't take damage if you have an armor up buff. IW Iron Man's armors are passive

Yeah, it has to be an active buff not a passive buff

Havoc plasma detonation ability can be preventen with an armor up buff. Passive armor won't work, since it's not a buff in the first place.
That is described in Havoc's ability description if you read carefully
