I joined mid 2018. Last year was my first experience with it. Is it an annual event?

Yes, This year the actual start of it is the end of January, but we might not see content related to it until early February.

It's not Chinese new year. It's actually lunar new year. The new year is not exclusive to China. That's like saying January 1st is American new year, lol.

The Chinese New Year of 2020 falls on January 25th (Saturday), and the festival will last to February 8th, about 15 days in total. 2020 is a Year of the Rat according to Chinese zodiac.

It’s Chinese New Year in China, all other countries that celebrate it refer to it as Lunar new year

Sorry had to correct your statement. January 25th is Chinese New Year but you're correct in saying it's not exclusive.
Like I said, its lunar new year. Problem is so many have referred to it as 'chinese' new year that so many ppl have accepted it without realizing the truth. So sad for ur ignorance.
