Labyrith Of legends Ultron and Variant Rank up 2016 gems not compatible?

Hi Kabam people!

Recently finished Variant #4, and i got Tech Rank up 2016 gems, Ultron is listed in the gem, and Labyrith Of legends was launched on August 2016 Why is not possible rank up that ultron with Variant Gems?
