Using 2015 Rank Up Gem before 2016 Gem

I can’t find it anywhere in the forums but does anyone have an update on why I can’t use my 2015 rank up gem? I have a 3-4 rank up gem for tech but also a 2016 3-4 gem. When I go to rank up star-lord it only gives me the option to use the 2016 one, which I don’t want to use on him. How can I use the 2015 one instead?

    You should NOT be able to use a 2016 rankup gem on Starlord. Are you sure it isn’t an any-year version, or that it isn’t actually the 2015 one that is coming up in the Upgrade screen for him ?

    Sorry I wasn’t clear, the second gem is for any tech champ released until then end of 2016

    Ah, ok, nevermind.
    Lot of ppl have had similar problems, not sure if they have found a way around it (does one cost gold to use and the other doesn’t maybe ?) Or have just had to use it on a 2016 champ first, then 2015 one will still be available for Starlord (???)

    It says they both cost gold but I’ve heard the 2015 one doesn’t. Hence why I want to use it. Also I don’t have any other techs to take to rank 4, especially out of that group
