Quest Crystal Trade-in

I'm getting to the point where I'm stocking up quite a few Quest Crystals, how often do they run that trade-in program in the store? I've only seen it once since I've started playing but that's only been since this past July. Should I even bother opening these or just wait for the chance to trade them in?
