Discipline of Alliance Members

I was wondering how other Leaders deal with the poor discipline of their alliance members participating in the Wars and Quests, I have taken over the leadership of my Alliance recently and have had a lot of new members join, the problem is they never contribute to the AQ and AW.
I have warned and kicked inactive members, private messaged lazy players who just login and don’t help out and even pleaded with other players on the chat to help out.
One of my biggest headaches with this is people who place defenders and then don’t join the attack phase, so we cut down our attack by nearly a third every time.
Would just be helpful to hear how other successful leaders and alliances cope with this, I have added most to the Line app but only a few will join that as well.
I appreciate some alliances don’t really bother with the wars and I agree they seem dated and boring now, but most of my alliance are genuinely trying to climb the table and it needs everyone contributing to do this.

I was not a successful leader by far, but one of the things I learned, is that you need to set expectations and a vision of where you want your alliance to head. Do you want to be casual and just laid back, do you want to be aq and or aw heavy? Do you want a fun environment but a mixture of above? You gotta set the standards and let people know before they join. It gets harder before it gets easier for sure, but once the rhythm starts then it keeps movin

Make it mandatory to join the chat app. Don’t join = kick.

Make it mandatory to join AQ and AW, set a cutoff time. Don’t join = kick.

You need to send a stern, firm message across the entire alliance that you are serious about it. As you gradually retain people and kick unwanted ones, you’ll eventually get there.

It took me 2-3 months to get my alliance in shape when I first started it. Once things get going, organize yourself AQ and AW and make sure newcomers know exactly how the alliance is ran. Put in punishments for failing to meet expectations and be rational and objective about things, not greedy.

Most of my alliance ( all my officers and most loyal members), are pretty serious about The wars and quests, it’s just the few lazy players happy to login and take the rewards for everyone else’s work.

I’m gonna make a real push for the Line membership now and all those aren’t participating in the next round of quests are booted.

One thing I have always found helpful is don't kick too many ppl at once. Nobody wants to join an empty alliance. I try to only kick 2 to 3 ppl max at a time. This will keep your roster around 27 to 28 members. New players are much more likely to join if they think they could be that missing piece that turns the alliance around. Plus with that level of players u can still complete maps in AQ. If u kick more members it's harder to fill the spots because most ppl don't want to wait for an alliance to rebuild when they can simply join another one.

I agree with what others had said above, set your expectations when talking with new recruits,..also if your alliance is mid-level (some experienced/intermediate) make sure you and officers decide on a focus point, do you want to be AW focused and run lower map AQs? or be AQ focused running 3bgs of map 4 or 5 and 1 or 2 bgs optional AW....

it can get frustrating with some players if you expect them to do high-level AQ maps (which require more frequent logging in) and 3 bgs AW and tying up their top 11 champs especially if they are still trying to explore Act 5, Act 6 or even Variants..

I'm an officer in a 21M alliance and we recently went to being AQ focused (map 5x5) with 1 bg optional war and we have a very low player turnaround because our players are content with the amount of gameplay we require of them which gives them more time to explore other game content.

I lead a 24 Mil, laid back alliance. 75% of the alliance has been with me 2-3 years. It's a nice mix of mid level to endgame players. (Some Uncollected/Others finished Abyss).
It used to drive me crazy assigning paths, recruiting, tagging people to move up on time, e.t.c. One day I figured out what I wanted:

An alliance that runs itself. So I went and got experienced players who grind MCOC bcuz they love it. They run their paths and kill bosses without me saying a word. Also, I have the best officers in MCOC, bar none! They are the ones who make my alliance feel like a family.

Best advice I can give any leader?
1) Recruit UP, not down. Find players who are stronger than you and already know how to play this game.
2) Kick players who are not good fits. Rules are there for a reason. It's better for a player to find an alliance that works for them.

I really like that style of leadership and definitely want to use that, I guess every leaders dream scenario is that self sustaining Alliance huh 👍🏼

1. Set a goal and direction. What level AQ and/or AW alliance do you want to be? How do you want to get there? What culture do you want? What level of pressure do you want? Align your officers on this goal as well. Make it a group decision.

2. Share goal with alliance members. Be honest and open and tell those who aren’t aligned to find a new home politely. Transitions are tough but don’t burn the bridges. But Be willing to lose people in this phase.

3.Recruit for the goal. Be honest about where you are and where you want to go in recruitment. Don’t lie to get people who won’t stay either. Recruit people in your league with similar aspirations. You may find some white knights willing to help but don’t lie to get them. They’ll join with what you are actually offering if they want. If you lie they’ll just leave because it’s not what they signed up for. I know I’ve been there and done that for a couple of groups in terms of helping to guide them on how to build.

4. Be clear on expectations. This is everything from participation to communication to donations. The cleaner you can be on what you want as an alliance for a culture and environment standpoint the better. Make sure the rules and expectations are clear to every member.

5. Enforce expectations. Don’t let anyone skate by. Officers and member alike need to be accountable. If you let people skate it will he noticed and sow division. Your expectation can be strict or laid back. Just know where the line is and make sure everyone respect the line. Confront those who cross it and remove if they won’t correct.

6. Continue to recruit until you find the right team with similar goals

Also I see you say most wont join line. Imo you cannot have a strong alliance without a real communication channel. If they aren’t willing to use external communication to the game then it just won’t work. That’s a boot or a no invite in most alliances.
