A long chat about roster and skill, and how they relate
TLDR: I Believe personally that roster, slightly(like 5-10%) edges out skill in endgame content
Looking at this, you might call me a heretic. But why? See Swedeah who uses Civil Warrior, Kamala Khan, and Rogue in AW all the time. Swedeah solos the grand master with Howard the Duck, LOL Maestro with X-23
Hear me out here. The problem with this belief is that most champions have a risk and reward return payoff. Risk being how hard it is to get them to their max potential, and reward being either utility(immunities, power control, etc) or those big nice-looking yellow numbers. Swedeah somehow manages to get Kamala and Rogue to their max potential, since he has the skills to do so and gets the most benefit out of it. However, for most of the player base, a corvus or nick fury or a blade or someone sustainable would help miles over kamala or rogue, even though we see swedeah's videos where he screws over the hardest opponents, since we can't use their best potential. Another thing that I could tie into is the "is this character underrated?". I see answers such as Crossbones, Psylocke, or even Taskmaster. But the problem with this assumption is that the person behind the screen can actually play with those people. Taskmaster and Psylocke are certainly not the easiest champions for a new player to learn and crush content with, and thus are delegated as "memes" or "trashmaster" even though they are not and have crazy potential.
Thus, we also have true memes that screw over players. No matter what, and I'm pretty sure Swedeah might make a video using this meme, but no one is going to use groot in high level content such as act 6 or LOL, AOL or maybe even Act 5. No one is going to use puny-hands unstoppable colossus when we have the real and much better colossus. No one is using naked Abomination when we have much better Banner's to use. Why? Because the reward for playing Gladiator Hulk over Abomb, Starlord over Groot, Colossus over Unstoppable Colossus is so much more and much more rewarding than using those memes
In summary, I choose roster over skill just because we have so many memes in this game, with around 1/4th to a 1/3rd of them basically unusable in endgame content and that for me equates around 5% over pure skill of the player
